AWS Makes AgentCore Payments Generally Available for AI Agents

On August 18, 2026, AWS announced general availability of AgentCore payments in Amazon Bedrock AgentCore. The service is designed to let AI agents discover, access and pay for paid APIs, MCP services and content while enterprises keep payment credentials, limits and transaction records under infrastructure-level controls.
Wallets and payment protocols
AWS says AgentCore payments integrates with Coinbase and Stripe Privy wallets for low-value transactions and supports multiple payment protocols. At general availability, AWS highlights Coinbase Quick Create, a curated Coinbase Bazar MCP server of pay-per-use x402 endpoints, support for the Machine Payment Protocol, and the x402 'upto' scheme for dynamic or pay-per-inference pricing.
Guardrails and credential isolation
Payment credentials are stored through AgentCore Identity rather than exposed directly to the agent. Developers can define payment limits and delegation rules so agents cannot spend outside approved boundaries. AgentCore Observability provides transaction visibility for production monitoring and audit workflows.
Why it matters
Autonomous agents increasingly call external tools and paid data sources, but payment has traditionally required a human checkout step or bespoke billing integration. AgentCore payments moves payment orchestration into the agent infrastructure layer, which could make machine-to-machine purchasing more practical for APIs, content, inference and MCP-based services.
