CodeArts Agent moves from public beta to commercial availability

Huawei Cloud announced on August 28, 2026 that CodeArts Agent is commercially available for international users in Asia Pacific, moving its Basic and Professional editions from public beta to general availability.

Huawei Cloud's formal product notice had scheduled commercial availability for August 26 at 23:59:59 GMT+8, so the August 28 announcement is best understood as the broader Asia-Pacific commercial rollout and launch communication rather than the first time the product had ever existed. CodeArts Agent had previously been available in beta and regional preview programs.

The released service combines code models, development tools and agentic workflows for software engineering. Huawei positions it for existing enterprise codebases as well as new projects.

Agent Team provides 16 specialized software-development agents

Huawei says CodeArts Agent's Agent Team includes 16 specialized agents spanning requirements analysis, architecture design, coding, testing, issue resolution and code review.

The system is designed to decompose longer development tasks and coordinate work across multiple agents rather than only provide single-turn code completion. Huawei also says it packages more than 30 reusable engineering skills derived from its internal software-development practices.

These counts describe Huawei's current product configuration; they are not independent measures of coding quality or productivity.

The product targets large existing codebases

A major focus of CodeArts Agent is retrieval and reasoning over existing software projects. Huawei says the service can understand and retrieve across codebases containing tens of millions of lines, while its commercial product page lists package-specific code-index limits.

At the time of verification, Huawei Cloud lists the international Basic edition at $20 per seat per month, supporting up to 100 seats, 40 million tokens per seat each month, 5 GB of knowledge space and 50,000 codebase index files.

The Professional edition is listed at $60 per seat per month, supporting up to 1,000 seats, 150 million tokens per seat each month, 20 GB of knowledge space and 100,000 codebase index files. Huawei lists additional enterprise functions including operation logs, model management, custom enterprise models, usage management and SSO.

Pricing and quotas can change, so buyers should verify the current purchase page before making a procurement decision.

IDE, plugins and CLI/TUI access are part of the released platform

Huawei's product page lists multiple ways to work with CodeArts Agent, including an AI-native IDE, plugins and CLI/TUI access.

Other listed capabilities include specification-driven development, persistent memory, enterprise R&D knowledge bases, quality-assurance agents, custom-agent management, token quota controls and an AI operations dashboard.

Huawei also describes sandbox isolation, behavior monitoring and command interception as part of its agent-security controls. Those controls are relevant because coding agents can execute tools and commands, but their presence should not be interpreted as eliminating all agentic security risk. Organizations still need repository permissions, review gates, secrets isolation and independent testing appropriate to their own environment.

Released capability, not a new foundation model

CodeArts Agent is a released developer platform, not a newly announced Huawei foundation model.

Its significance is the move from beta to paid commercial use for Huawei Cloud international customers in the Asia-Pacific rollout, together with a product structure that combines multi-agent software work, large-codebase context, CLI/IDE access and enterprise administration.

The release adds another enterprise option to a rapidly expanding market for agentic coding systems, where the important comparisons will be task reliability, security boundaries, repository integration, model choice, latency, cost and how much human review remains necessary.

What is available now and what remains future-facing

The Basic and Professional editions are commercially available now according to Huawei Cloud's international product page and August launch announcement.

Huawei says it will continue expanding the service and integrating its software-engineering practices with newer AI capabilities, but those statements are roadmap direction rather than released features. Any future regional expansion, new models or higher-tier editions should be treated separately when formally launched.
