Overview
South Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT and National Research Foundation, working with Canada's NSERC, are accepting joint proposals for a new three-year Korea–Canada quantum science and technology research programme.

The programme plans to select about four bilateral projects across quantum algorithms and cryptography, quantum communications, quantum computing, quantum materials and quantum sensing. Each team must include Korean and Canadian research leadership and define each side's research scope in a joint plan.
Eligibility requirements
The Korean lead research institution is limited to a domestic university. Korean joint research institutions may include universities and national, public or government-funded research institutes, while companies cannot participate as research institutions. The Canadian principal investigator must satisfy NSERC eligibility rules, and both countries' required submissions must be completed.

IRIS and NRF Korea were rechecked on 7 September 2026. IRIS lists applications through 7 October 2026 at 18:00 but does not label the timezone, so no UTC timestamp was invented. NRF states roughly four projects, 36 months from December 2026 to November 2029, up to KRW 300 million per Korean project per year and up to CAD 250,000 per Canadian project per year.
