The Internship Program Our 10-week summer program puts real work of the firm in your hands. You will work alongside brilliant people, gain insights and know-how from our Quanta Academy Summer Term curriculum, and experience what it’s like to work at the pinnacle of global, systematic investing. Learning is the cornerstone of our culture and plays an active role in the internship experience — through daily collaboration and interaction with employees at all levels, in workshops and classes, and most significantly by working on projects that matter to the many clients we serve.   Our unique AQR Quanta Academy: Summer Term learning series, a structured program, consists of over 40 hours of educational, skill-building and networking events. Your Role As a Trading Intern, you'll work alongside our traders on projects that directly support the investment process across global markets. You'll analyze trading activity, study market structure and liquidity, investigate how news and geopolitical events influence prices, and help improve how we execute systematic investment strategies. This is a hands-on role where you'll learn by doing—working with experienced traders, portfolio managers, researchers, and technologists on real problems that matter every day. You'll have opportunities to: Analyze trading costs, market structure, and liquidity across asset classes. Explore how macroeconomic events, earnings, policy decisions, and geopolitical developments impact markets. Build analytical tools and perform research to improve execution and trading decisions. Work with large datasets to identify patterns, test hypotheses, and generate actionable insights. Collaborate closely with portfolio managers, researchers, and technologists on projects spanning the investment process. Candidates must be graduating between December 2027 and June 2028. Successful interns typically: Are fascinated by global markets and naturally follow financial, economic, and geopolitical developments. Enjoy understanding why markets move and how news is reflected in prices, volatility, and liquidity. Have a genuine interest in market structure, trading, and liquidity across multiple asset classes. Are collaborative team players who communicate well, ask thoughtful questions, and enjoy learning from others. Believe the best answers come from data. They enjoy testing hypotheses and using data science to solve real-world trading and investment problems. Whether through programming, AI-assisted tools, or other analytical approaches, they are motivated by finding evidence-based solutions rather than relying on intuition alone.
