Overview
AAUW International Project Grants provide up to US$10,000 for eligible former AAUW International Fellows to lead charitable, community-based projects that advance gender equity and the social and economic empowerment of women and girls. Applications close on 30 September 2026.
Complete grant details
The 2027 International Project Grant supports new or existing community-based initiatives led by eligible International Fellowship alumnae. Projects may span any field but must advance gender equity and the social and economic empowerment of women and girls and must not generate personal profit. Applicants propose their own project period, beginning no earlier than 1 July 2027 and no later than 30 September 2027, with the project ending no more than 12 months after its start. AAUW disburses an approved grant in two equal installments, with the second payment contingent on satisfactory progress and required mid-grant reporting. Applications are completed in English in AAUW's online portal.
Eligibility requirements
Applicants must identify as women; have successfully completed an AAUW International Fellowship between June 2011 and June 2026 and fulfilled the fellowship reporting requirements; serve as the primary project director; be non-U.S. citizens without U.S. permanent-resident status or a pending U.S. permanent-residency application; and normally reside in and implement the project in their home country during the grant period. AAUW allows an exception to the home-country location requirement for humanitarian, safety or other extenuating circumstances.
Tips for this grant
Practical Job and Scholarship guidance. These tips do not replace official rules or create new eligibility requirements.
- Confirm that your prior AAUW International Fellowship falls within the eligible completion period and that all prior reporting is complete.
- Build a project narrative and budget that clearly show direct community benefit for women and girls and comply with AAUW's allowable-expense rules.
- Check eligibility, funding coverage, study/project level and every required document before investing time in the application.
- Prepare transcripts, references, language tests, proposal/motivation statement and proof documents early.
- Separate the scholarship deadline from any university/program admission deadline; they may be different.
- Treat “fully funded” as a source fact only when the official provider explicitly confirms the covered costs.
Verification notes
Verified against AAUW's current International Project Grants page. The application period is 17 August through 30 September 2026. AAUW states funding of up to US$10,000. No deadline clock time is shown on the current page, so only deadline_date is stored.
Job and Scholarship is the discovery and verification layer. Confirm eligibility, dates, salary/funding and application instructions on the original source before submitting anything.
