Accounting & Regulatory Reporting

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Accounting & Regulatory Reporting professional based in Mexico. As part of a high-growth fintech environment, you’ll play a central role in building and strengthening a best-in-class Finance organization. You’ll act as the technical leader for the accounting function, with responsibility for financial reporting, regulatory compliance, internal controls, and accounting integration. The role offers high visibility and regular interaction with executive leadership, auditors, regulators, and cross-functional teams. You’ll help lead the accounting integration of a newly acquired regulated financial entity while creating consistency across the wider organization. This is a hands-on opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys solving complex problems and improving processes. Your work will directly support reliable decision-making, operational excellence, and long-term financial growth.

Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring financial information is accurate, complete, and delivered on time. Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements while maintaining high standards of accounting accuracy. Ensure compliance with Mexican NIF and support IFRS and CNBV regulatory reporting requirements. Coordinate internal and external audits, including the preparation of supporting documentation and responses to audit requests. Lead the accounting integration of a newly acquired SOFIPO, ensuring processes, systems, policies, and reporting are effectively aligned. Standardize accounting policies, procedures, and chart of accounts across the Group to promote consistency and stronger financial governance. Strengthen internal controls, identify process gaps, and implement opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements. Partner with Treasury, Tax, FP&A, Operations, Product, and other cross-functional teams on strategic initiatives requiring accounting expertise. Serve as the accounting subject matter expert, providing guidance and mentoring to junior team members and contributing to the continuous development of the Finance function. Requirements Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, with CPA certification considered a plus. Bring 6–10 years of progressive accounting experience within banking, fintech, SOFIPO, IFPE, or another regulated financial institution. Demonstrate strong knowledge of Mexican NIF, along with practical understanding of IFRS and CNBV regulatory reporting requirements. Have proven experience leading financial close processes, audits, internal controls, and financial reporting. Possess advanced Excel skills and experience working with ERP platforms such as NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, or similar systems. Bring experience supporting M&A, post-merger integration, accounting integration, or broader finance transformation projects as a strong advantage. Demonstrate strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across different teams. Be hands-on and comfortable taking ownership of complex accounting and operational challenges in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrate a customer-centric mindset and understand how high-quality financial information enables better business decisions. Be results and data driven, using insights to improve processes, strengthen controls, and continuously raise performance standards.
