Job Overview
We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Adult Acute Speech and Language Therapist (SALT) to join a dynamic team in a major trauma hospital in East London. This role offers the opportunity to work across a range of acute adult settings, including general medical and neurosciences wards, supporting patients with complex communication and swallowing needs.
You will play a vital role in delivering high-quality assessment, diagnosis, and intervention for adults with acquired communication deficits and complex dysphagia. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to patient recovery and rehabilitation in a fast-paced acute environment.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:• Assess, diagnose, and manage adults with speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders in an acute hospital setting.• Provide specialist intervention for patients with complex dysphagia and acquired communication impairments.• Work across general medical and neurosciences wards as part of a multidisciplinary team.• Develop and implement individualised treatment and management plans.• Maintain accurate clinical records in line with professional and organisational standards.• Contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings, discharge planning, and patient reviews.
Qualifications and Experience
To be considered for this role, you must have:• A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).• HCPC registration and eligibility for membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).• Proven experience working with acute adult patients.• Experience managing complex dysphagia and acquired communication disorders.• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Desirable:• Experience with tracheostomy and ventilated patients.• Competency in Videofluoroscopy and/or FEES.
