Job Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced and confident Band 6 Adult Acute Speech and Language Therapist to join an established NHS acute team at Ealing Hospital in London.

This is an in-patient adult acute role, ideal for a therapist who is able to work independently within a fast-paced hospital environment. You will be responsible for managing a complex caseload, with a particular focus on the assessment and management of dysphagia, working closely with multidisciplinary colleagues to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care.

The post is initially offered for 3 months, with the option to extend based on service needs and performance.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

Independently assess, diagnose, and manage adult in-patient caseloads within an acute hospital setting

Provide expert assessment and treatment of dysphagia, including bedside and clinical swallowing assessments

Deliver evidence-based speech, language, and communication interventions for adults with complex medical needs

Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, including medical, nursing, and allied health professionals

Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in line with NHS and professional standards

Contribute to discharge planning and ongoing patient care reviews

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this role, you must have:

A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent)

HCPC registration and eligibility for RCSLT membership

Proven experience working as a Band 6 SLT within an adult acute hospital setting

Demonstrated ability to manage dysphagia independently

Strong clinical reasoning, communication, and organisational skills
