Full job description

About Printerpix:

Printerpix is a fast-growing e-commerce innovator, revolutionizing the online photo printing and personalized gifting sector. We believe in celebrating life's milestones and everyday joys, from custom photo blankets to cherished photobooks. As we rapidly expand into new marketing channels and global markets, our team is growing exponentially. This is your chance to join a dynamic, results-driven organization where your contributions directly impact millions of customers worldwide, offering unparalleled opportunities to take on significant responsibility and accelerate your career trajectory.

Role Summary:

As our Mid-Level AI Agent Systems Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing, building, and deploying autonomous AI agents that transform our e-commerce operations. This isn't about wrapping LLM APIs; you'll be engineering intelligent systems that execute complex workflows, becoming true AI teammates within Printerpix, directly impacting customer experience and operational efficiency.

What You'll Build:

You'll be at the forefront of architecting and deploying production-grade AI agents that operate across our e-commerce platforms, internal tools, and customer touchpoints. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Autonomous E-commerce Workflows: Developing agents that manage personalized product recommendations, automate order processing, handle complex customer service inquiries beyond simple chatbots, and orchestrate dynamic marketing campaigns.
  • Internal Operational Automation: Building agents that streamline supply chain logistics, optimize inventory management, and automate content creation or design variations for our personalized products.
  • Intelligent Data Agents: Crafting systems that interact with various databases and APIs to gather, analyze, and act upon insights, providing real-time intelligence for business decisions.
  • Production-Grade Agentic Systems: Focusing on agent autonomy, reliability, and security, ensuring these agents can perform sophisticated, multi-step tasks across diverse enterprise systems and external APIs.

Your First 90 Days:

  • Week 1: Immerse yourself in Printerpix's core e-commerce platform and existing data infrastructure. Meet the broader engineering, marketing, and operations teams to understand key pain points and opportunities for AI agent intervention. Set up your development environment.
  • Month 1: Identify a high-impact internal workflow that can be partially or fully automated by an AI agent. You'll design the architecture for this pilot agent, demonstrating an initial proof-of-concept. Begin collaborating with stakeholders to refine requirements and integrate initial data sources.
  • Month 3: Deploy your first production-grade internal AI agent, demonstrating measurable improvements (e.g., reduced manual effort, improved response times, increased data accuracy). Present your findings to leadership and outline the roadmap for scaling this agent and initiating development on a customer-facing agent.

What We're Looking For:

  • Professional Experience: 2-5 years of hands-on experience in software engineering, machine learning, or AI systems development, with a specific focus on agentic systems or complex AI integrations.
  • Python Proficiency: Expert-level proficiency in Python, utilized for building robust, scalable AI agent systems, orchestrating complex workflows, and developing efficient data pipelines.
  • LLM Architectures & Prompt Engineering: Deep theoretical and practical understanding of Large Language Model (LLM) architectures. Proven ability to apply advanced prompt engineering techniques, including few-shot learning, chain-of-thought prompting, and self-correction mechanisms, to maximize agent performance and reliability.
  • System Design & Distributed Systems: Demonstrated capability to design, architect, and implement end-to-end agentic systems, ensuring high availability, fault tolerance, and scalability in a distributed environment, handling thousands of concurrent interactions.
  • Machine Learning Fundamentals: Solid grasp of core machine learning principles, enabling you to integrate custom ML models, fine-tune existing ones, and evaluate agent performance effectively.
  • RESTful APIs: Strong experience in designing, building, and consuming RESTful APIs, facilitating seamless integration of AI agents with our e-commerce platforms, internal services, and third-party tools.
  • AWS Expertise: Hands-on experience with key AWS services (e.g., EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, EKS, SageMaker) for deploying, monitoring, and managing secure, high-performance AI agent infrastructure.
  • Agent Orchestration Frameworks: Practical expertise with AI orchestration frameworks like LangChain (or similar, such as LlamaIndex or CrewAI) for constructing and managing complex, multi-step agentic workflows and tooling.
  • Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG): Proven experience implementing and optimizing RAG pipelines to ground AI agents with proprietary e-commerce data, ensuring accurate, context-aware, and up-to-date responses.
  • FastAPI Development: Proficient in developing high-performance, asynchronous API services using FastAPI to serve agent endpoints and integrate with front-end applications or other microservices.

Nice-to-Have:

  • MLOps Practices: Familiarity with MLOps principles and tools (e.g., MLflow, Kubeflow) for managing the complete lifecycle of AI agents, from experimentation to production deployment and monitoring.
  • Vector Databases: Experience with vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, Weaviate, Milvus) for efficient semantic search and retrieval in RAG architectures.
  • Container Orchestration: Experience with Kubernetes for orchestrating and managing containerized AI agent deployments at scale.
  • Streaming Platforms: Exposure to real-time data streaming platforms like Kafka for building event-driven agent architectures and processing high volumes of data.
  • Reinforcement Learning: Understanding of reinforcement learning concepts or their application in optimizing agent behavior and decision-making over time.

Why This Role: This is a unique opportunity for a Mid-Level AI Agent Systems Engineer to define and build the future of AI within a rapidly expanding e-commerce brand. You won't be a cog in a large machine; you'll be a foundational engineer shaping how AI agents are architected, orchestrated, and trusted across our global operations, impacting millions of customers. You'll gain unparalleled ownership, directly influencing technology choices and strategic direction for AI at Printerpix. The scope for rapid career acceleration into senior leadership and the chance to build a truly impactful portfolio of agentic systems from the ground up far exceeds typical mid-level roles. If you're looking to move beyond theoretical AI to deploying real-world agents that drive tangible business outcomes, this is your chance to shine.
