Complete fellowship details
The American-Scandinavian Foundation Fellowship for Icelanders provides USD 15,000 for graduate degree study or research at U.S. universities. Applicants may already have started their graduate programme or plan to begin in autumn 2027. Exchange-only study is not eligible.
Eligibility requirements
Applicants must be Icelandic citizens and have completed, or be completing by the following spring, a first university degree such as BA, BSc or BEd. Master's, PhD and research applicants across fields are eligible. Unlike Fulbright awards, this ASF award is not subject to Fulbright's two-year home-residency rule and may support medical or clinical fields.
Tips for this fellowship
Practical Job and Scholarship guidance. These tips do not replace official rules or create new eligibility requirements.
- Check eligibility, funding coverage, study/project level and every required document before investing time in the application.
- Prepare transcripts, references, language tests, proposal/motivation statement and proof documents early.
- Separate the scholarship deadline from any university/program admission deadline; they may be different.
- Treat “fully funded” as a source fact only when the official provider explicitly confirms the covered costs.
Verification notes
Verified against the current Fulbright Iceland ASF Fellowship page and June 2026 announcement. The 2027–28 award is USD 15,000 and the deadline is 14 October 2026. No closing time is published, so deadline is null. Applications use the ASF electronic grant platform linked on the source page.
Job and Scholarship is the discovery and verification layer. Confirm eligibility, dates, salary/funding and application instructions on the original source before submitting anything.
