Overview

USD 15,000 fellowship for eligible Icelandic students pursuing graduate study or a research project at a U.S. university in 2027/2028.

Complete fellowship details

The Iceland-U.S. Educational Commission administers this ASF award for Icelanders. It supports master's study, doctoral study, or research in any field at a U.S. university. It is not a Fulbright grant and the Fulbright two-year home-residency rule and clinical-study restrictions do not apply. Exchange study is not eligible.

Eligibility requirements

Applicants must be Icelandic citizens and have completed, or be due to complete the following spring, a first university degree such as a BA, BSc or BEd. U.S. admission is not required at application. Applicants who have already begun graduate study in the United States may apply.

Tips for this fellowship

Practical Job and Scholarship guidance. These tips do not replace official rules or create new eligibility requirements.

  1. Check eligibility, funding coverage, study/project level and every required document before investing time in the application.
  2. Prepare transcripts, references, language tests, proposal/motivation statement and proof documents early.
  3. Separate the scholarship deadline from any university/program admission deadline; they may be different.
  4. Treat “fully funded” as a source fact only when the official provider explicitly confirms the covered costs.

Verification notes

Verified against the current official Iceland-U.S. Educational Commission page for the 2027/2028 ASF Fellowship. The source gives 14 October 2026 without a closing clock time.
