Architect - Software Developer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Architect - Software Developer based in Canada. This is a senior software architecture and development role focused on building and scaling distributed services in a high-impact healthcare technology environment. You’ll design platform services, APIs, microservices, and modern frontend applications that connect fragmented clinical systems and support real-time care coordination. The role combines hands-on engineering with architectural ownership, technical decision-making, and mentorship. You’ll work across the full stack while applying cloud-native, AI-augmented, and modern engineering practices. With a strong focus on reliability, scalability, performance, and quality, your work will support platforms serving thousands of healthcare facilities and millions of users. This fully remote opportunity requires working in the Eastern Time Zone and offers significant exposure to emerging AI, cloud, and software technologies.

Design, build, and scale robust platform services, APIs, microservices, and React applications. Drive architectural and technical decisions for critical business and healthcare platforms. Collaborate with Product and Clinical teams to understand complex workflows and translate them into effective technical solutions. Own the reliability, scalability, performance, and quality of production systems. Apply modern engineering practices, including automated testing, TDD, CI/CD, observability, and Infrastructure as Code. Leverage AI-augmented development tools throughout the software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis and solution design through implementation, testing, documentation, debugging, and incident response. Participate in code reviews, production support, incident response, and on-call responsibilities. Mentor engineers and contribute to technical direction, engineering standards, and best practices. Requirements 10+ years of professional software engineering experience building and delivering production applications. Strong experience with Java, Python, or a similar modern programming language. Deep understanding of cloud-native architecture, distributed systems, and scalable service design. Strong experience designing, optimizing, and scaling relational/SQL databases. Proven experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs and microservices. Strong knowledge of automated testing, TDD, and software quality practices. Experience using AI-augmented development tools such as GitHub Copilot or Claude Code across the software development lifecycle. Hands-on experience with React or modern frontend frameworks. Experience with CI/CD, Git, and Infrastructure as Code. Experience with production observability, monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance optimization. Demonstrated ability to take ownership of complex technical challenges and deliver scalable solutions. Strong communication, collaboration, mentoring, and problem-solving skills. Experience building and scaling SaaS platforms is an asset. Strong background in Java and Spring Boot is an asset. Experience with Azure and Kubernetes/AKS is an asset. Experience with NoSQL databases is an asset. Experience in healthcare technology or other regulated industries is an asset. Understanding of HIPAA, data privacy, and sensitive healthcare data is an asset. Proven experience mentoring engineers or leading technical initiatives. Passion for continuous learning, emerging technologies, and solving complex technical problems.
