In this vital leadership role, you will provide essential support to the Chief Engineering, ensuring the engineering team’s efficiency and high standards are maintained throughout the property. You will demonstrate strong management skills by supervising all operational areas, motivating your team, and upholding safety and compliance standards. As Acting Department Head in the absence of the Chief Engineering, you will lead by example and contribute to an environment built on integrity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Support the Chief Engineering in daily operations and serve as Department Head in their absence, ensuring all tasks and standards are upheld.
- Lead and motivate the engineering team by setting high performance standards, monitoring work quality, and providing clear direction and supervision.
- Implement and monitor preventive maintenance programs for all hotel facilities and equipment, focusing on safety, compliance, and operational efficiency.
- Assist with budgeting and cost control by tracking maintenance expenses, managing supplies, and promoting resource optimization.
- Promote workplace safety and energy efficiency by enforcing strict adherence to safety regulations, monitoring energy usage, and preparing accurate reports.
Requirements
- Minimum D3 or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in a similar leadership role within hospitality or large property management.
- Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to coach, mentor, and inspire a diverse team.
- Highly organized and adaptable, able to multitask and respond to changing operational needs in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with proficiency in computer applications and engineering systems.
