Position Summary We are seeking an  Associate Trainer  to support the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of workmanship training programs for electrical harnessing and cable assembly personnel. This role works closely with Senior Technicians, Quality Engineering, and the Training Manager to onboard new technicians, reinforce standards compliance, and help build a pipeline of qualified, certifiable talent across the production floor. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who has demonstrated strong hands-on workmanship skills on our floor and wants to transition toward training, curriculum development, and quality mentorship — without yet stepping into a full Technical Trainer / Senior Trainer or Certified IPC Trainer (CIT) role.  Key Responsibilities Assist in delivering hands-on and classroom-based training on wire harness fabrication, including wire prep, crimping, soldering, splicing, lacing, connector assembly, and inspection criteria Support training aligned to  IPC/WHMA-A-620  and  NASA-STD-8739.4A  workmanship standards, under the guidance of a Certified IPC Trainer (CIT) or Master IPC Trainer (MIT) Conduct skills assessments and practical evaluations for new hires and technicians pursuing certification or advancement Help maintain and update training materials, kitting, and job aids to reflect current standard revisions and process changes Assist with tracking training records, certification status, and recertification schedules for harnessing personnel Support root-cause and trend analysis on recurring workmanship defects, feeding findings back into training content Collaborate with Quality Engineering to ensure training content stays current with ECOs, process changes, and standard revisions Assist in developing and administering written and practical certification exams Provide mentorship and coaching to apprentice and junior-level technicians as directed by senior training staff Required Qualifications Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience in a harnessing, cable assembly, or directly related production role. Demonstrated hands-on proficiency in wire harness/cable assembly, including crimping, soldering, and connector termination, as evidenced by current role performance and quality record Working knowledge of  IPC/WHMA-A-620  acceptance criteria (certification a plus; willingness to pursue CIT certification required) Familiarity with our internal build documentation, travelers, and process specs, and the ability to speak to how our floor applies  IPC/WHMA-A-620  /  NASA-STD-8739.4A  in practice Demonstrated ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and build travelers Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to learners at varying experience levels Comfortable providing corrective feedback in a constructive, non-adversarial manner Basic understanding of FOD prevention, and general workplace safety practices in an electronics/harnessing environment Satisfactory internal performance and quality record over the past 12 months (supervisor sign-off may be requested as part of the internal transfer process) Preferred Qualifications IPC/WHMA-A-620 Certified IPC Specialist (CIS) credential, or in active pursuit of certification Prior experience mentoring, training, or leading junior technicians in a production environment Experience supporting root-cause investigations, NCR/MRB processes, or continuous improvement initiatives Exposure to coaxial/biaxial cable assembly, epoxy potting/staking, or high-reliability (aerospace/defense/medical) build environments Experience with LMS (Learning Management System) platforms or formal curriculum development What Success Looks Like in This Role New technicians trained under this role consistently meet or exceed first-pass quality metrics Training materials stay current with the latest standard revisions and internal process changes Technicians report clear, actionable feedback that improves their skill and judgment over time — not just pass/fail outcomes Growing readiness pipeline of technicians prepared for Senior Technician or certification advancement Growth Path This role is designed as a development track toward  Technical Trainer  /  Senior Trainer / Certified IPC Trainer (CIT) .
