Overview
American University of Sharjah welcomes short-term Visiting Guests-in-Residence who need access to AUS facilities to conduct research or collaborate with AUS faculty.
Complete research opportunity details
The Visiting Guests-in-Residence route covers scholarship recipients, research assistants, visiting faculty, doctoral researchers, prospective graduate students awaiting admission, visiting scholars and participants in short programs. Initial appointments are granted for up to six months and may be extended with the required approvals. On-campus researcher accommodation is subject to availability and is not guaranteed. AUS can assist eligible visitors with the visa application process, while the visitor remains responsible for the related costs.
Eligibility requirements
Applicants must fit an eligible visiting-research category and have an AUS hosting department. The hosting department must notify the International Exchange Office at least 12 weeks before the intended arrival, and Initial Government Approval is required before onboarding. Funding is not provided by default: AUS states that visitors are typically self-funded, supported by non-AUS research funding, sponsored through an approved scholarship or participating in a short program.
Tips for this research opportunity
Practical Job and Scholarship guidance. These tips do not replace official rules or create new eligibility requirements.
- Match your research background to the project, laboratory, supervisor and required methods rather than applying only from the title.
- Prepare a focused academic CV, transcripts, publications and research statement or proposal when requested by the official call.
- Confirm funding duration, stipend/salary, tuition coverage, start date and eligibility for international applicants.
- Contact a supervisor before applying only when the official instructions recommend or require it.
