Automation & Industrial IT Engineer / Specialist (m/f/d)

PFASuiki is setting the global standard for safe, sustainable PFAS destruction. Through advanced electrochemical oxidation (ECO), we transform contaminated streams into non-hazardous outputs and help solve one of today’s major environmental challenges. We are looking for an Automation & Industrial IT Engineer / Specialist to develop the control, automation and data systems behind our pilot systems and future commercial products. You will take hands-on responsibility for PLC and SCADA development, equipment integration, operational data systems, testing and commissioning. Tasks • Develop, test and maintain PLC software for operating modes, sequences, control loops, alarms, interlocks and trips • Build practical HMI and SCADA applications for plant control, monitoring, alarms, trends and fault diagnosis • Integrate sensors, field devices and packaged equipment into the control system • Perform I/O checks and troubleshoot issues across software, communications, PLC hardware and field devices • Maintain systems for collecting, storing, backing up and accessing pilot and plant operational data • Support company networks, devices, user access and backups in collaboration with external providers where required • Prepare software tests and support FAT, dry and wet testing, startup and on-site commissioning • Maintain structured documentation, including source code, backups, software releases, control descriptions, test results and network records Requirements • Degree, technician, Meister, vocational or equivalent qualification in automation, electrical engineering, mechatronics, industrial IT, computer science or a related field • Practical experience programming and commissioning PLC-controlled industrial or process equipment • Strong PLC programming skills, including structured programming, process sequences, control loops and online diagnostics • Experience developing HMI or SCADA applications and working with industrial data • Experience with industrial communications and equipment integration • Practical understanding of networks, computers, backups, access control and cybersecurity • Methodical, hands-on approach to troubleshooting across software, networks, PLCs and field devices • Professional English; German is a plus for site work and supplier coordination • Structured approach to software testing, version control, release management and documentation Bonus: • Functional safety or safety PLC experience • Data analysis or automated engineering reporting experience • Experience managing IT systems in a startup, laboratory or engineering environment Benefits • Real impact: Apply your engineering expertise to solving a major global environmental challenge • Ownership: Take responsibility for the automation and industrial IT systems behind our technology • Broad technical scope: Work across PLCs, SCADA, industrial communications, data systems and commissioning • Startup culture: Join a dynamic, collaborative environment where your ideas can directly shape our technology and strategy • Competitive package: Fixed salary plus performance-based variable compensation • Additional benefits including public transportation and lunch subsidies Ready to use automation and industrial IT to help make “forever chemicals” a problem of the past?
