Job Overview

Pulse is currently seeking an experienced and motivated Band 5 Pharmacy Technician to join the pharmacy team in South London. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled pharmacy technician to work within a specialist mental health setting, supporting ward-based medicines management services and ensuring the safe and effective use of medicines.

The successful candidate will work closely with pharmacists, nursing teams, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality pharmaceutical care, contribute to medicines optimisation initiatives, and support positive patient outcomes across the Trust.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide ward-based pharmacy technician support across designated clinical areas.

  • Undertake medicines reconciliation and support medicines optimisation activities.

  • Assist in ensuring the safe and effective use of medicines in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.

  • Perform Accredited Checking Technician (ACT) duties where appropriate.

  • Support patients through medication counselling and medicine-related advice.

  • Work collaboratively with pharmacists and multidisciplinary teams to optimise patient care.

  • Maintain accurate pharmaceutical records and documentation.

  • Contribute to clinical audits, service developments, and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) and maintain up-to-date mandatory CPD requirements.

  • Hold an Accredited Checking Technician (ACT) qualification.

  • Possess the HEE Medicines Optimisation qualification or equivalent.

  • Have proven post-qualification hospital pharmacy experience.

  • Demonstrate substantial ward-based pharmacy experience.

  • Possess strong knowledge of medicines management principles and safe clinical practice.

  • Be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

  • Have excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
