Overview

A year-round workplace-readiness programme for unemployed young people, offering three weeks of World of Work training, career guidance, tailored support, a lunch/travel stipend and potential workplace placement.

Complete training program details

Job Start Plus provides three weeks of in-person World of Work training, normally five days a week from 8:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Workshops cover resume writing, job-search strategies, interviews, communication, teamwork, conflict resolution, anger and time management, and work ethics. Participants are assessed for work readiness and support needs, and the programme can include placement in a workplace.

Eligibility requirements

Applicants must be 16–24 years old, or 16–34 if they are a person with a disability, and must not currently be employed or enrolled in a training institution.

Tips for this training program

Practical Job and Scholarship guidance. These tips do not replace official rules or create new eligibility requirements.

  1. Confirm learning outcomes, prerequisites, delivery schedule, assessment requirements and certificate conditions.
  2. Check whether the training is free, funded, reimbursed or requires a fee and whether attendance is mandatory for completion.
  3. Verify that the provider and certificate are relevant to your intended academic or professional use.

Verification notes

Append-only correction to the same canonical Barbados Job Start Plus identity after a transport transcription typo in an earlier same-run shard. Rechecked against the current Government of Barbados service page: eligibility is ages 16–24, or ages 16–34 for a person with a disability, with registration open throughout the year. The official paper registration route remains available; the linked online form endpoint still returns 404.
