Overview

Two Mauritanian fintech hackathon tracks for idea-stage teams and established companies, focused on digital credit, BNPL and crowdfunding.

Complete hackathon details

The Central Bank of Mauritania, through PAFIID and in partnership with GIZ, is running two BCM Fintech Program hackathons. The Ideation Hackathon runs 19–20 October 2026 for students, entrepreneurs and project holders in teams of at least three. The Sandbox Hackathon runs 21–22 October for companies established for at least one year, with an operational team in Mauritania and a prototype ready for experimentation. Applications for both tracks are open through 20 September 2026.

Eligibility requirements

Ideation track: students, entrepreneurs and project holders in teams of at least three. Sandbox track: companies established for at least one year, with an operational team in Mauritania and a prototype ready to test.

Tips for this hackathon

Practical Job and Scholarship guidance. These tips do not replace official rules or create new eligibility requirements.

  1. Read the rules, eligibility, judging criteria, required technologies and intellectual-property terms before forming your submission plan.
  2. Build a complementary team early and assign product, engineering, design, research and presentation responsibilities clearly.
  3. Optimize for the published judging rubric: demonstrate a real problem, working solution, measurable impact and a concise live demo.
  4. Prepare the repository, pitch deck, demo video and submission links before the final hours so upload or platform problems do not invalidate the entry.
  5. Check whether travel, finalist presentations, team-size limits or mandatory attendance apply before committing.

Verification notes

The official BCM Fintech page confirms both 2026 tracks, eligibility, dates, application buttons and the 20 September 2026 application cutoff. Because the two tracks use separate application forms, the official track page is used as the common application destination.
