BIBF is pleased to announce the official launch of its Management Development Programme (MDP). The launch event at Avani Gaborone Resort & Casino on 19 August 2026 highlighted the program’s unique focus on leadership mastery and its credibility, backed by CMI recognition.

The Managing Director of BIBF, Mr Molaodi Menyatso, gave an overview of the MDP and highlighted that it was strategically conceptualized to solve Botswana corporate leadership gaps.

Dr Wabo Moswate, Acting CEO of Botswana Savings Bank

The keynote address was delivered by Dr Wabo Moswate, Acting CEO of Botswana Savings Bank: “Botswana’s Competitive Advantage will come from the quality leaders we develop. Technical competence alone doesn’t build the future. As we transition as the leadership in financial services, we mobilise what was thought to be impossible. This locally developed and internationally recognized MDP cements the significance of BIBF as a strategic capability partner to Botswana’s financial industry.

Director of Academics, Mr Bakani Thothe, expanded on key academic insights. He shared the vision behind the MDP and the impact it is designed to create for leaders across Botswana’s organisations.

Attendees gained an overview of how the MDP builds leadership capability in three integrated areas:

Personal Mastery: leading yourself through self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and self-management

Team Mastery: leading others with transformational and inspirational leadership, managing people holistically

Business Mastery: leading the business with strategic thinking, change leadership, and financial performance awareness in complex environments.

BIBF emphasizes that this program is the first MDP developed in Botswana, designed to strengthen leadership effectiveness in real-world conditions. The MDP is recognized by CMI and accredited by HRDC.

“We are excited to launch this milestone programme in Botswana,” said Mr Menyatso, Managing Director of BIBF. “The MDP is built to develop leaders who can lead with clarity, inspire others, and drive business results, especially in today’s dynamic environment.”

Mr Thothe, Director of Academics, added: “The MDP’s curriculum is structured to support practical leadership mastery across the individual, team, and business levels. Our goal is to provide participants with learning that translates directly into workplace impact.”

Speaking on behalf of Chartered Management Institute, Hakeem Haidar, Engagement Manager for MENA, said: “BIBF is the first and only CMI partner in Botswana. This puts BIBF on the world stage. For this MDP, upon enrolment, the participants receive a free 12-month CMI membership and learning tools, and upon completion, they graduate with Foundation Chartered Manager (fCMgr) status. This puts the graduates on the pathway to becoming a fully chartered manager in the future.”

Guests are invited to enrol in the first cohort starting on the 7th of September 2026.
