Vilnius University is a bilateral partner of many universities all around the world. Bilateral agreements promote academic cooperation in a different research and study fields and student exchange. A great opportunity for students wishing to study for a semester or two in Australia, Singapore, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Brazil, etc.

Selection Process

• The student selects their preferred university (or universities) from the provided list and submits an online application for the internal bilateral exchange selection. The selection took place from 26 August to 13 September (midnight).
• The student may indicate three universities in order of preference. If selected for the first choice, the other choices are no longer considered. If 3 universities are listed, the motivation letter must be written for the first university.
• If a student is not selected for any university, the selection committee may suggest an alternative option.
• During registration, a student can apply for both Erasmus+ and Bilateral Exchange/Arqus/COIMBRA programs, while indicating the priority program in the registration form.

IMPORTANT: when applying for Bilateral Exchange/Arqus/COIMBRA exchange, each student is eligible for an Erasmus+ scholarship, regardless of the university choices. The Erasmus+ scholarship is awarded for one semester only and is 700 euros per month. The maximum Erasmus+ exchange period is 12 months in one study cycle, 24 months in integrated studies.

• Selection results are announced by email within 10 working days after the end of the selection. All students who participated in the selection are notified.

• Selected students receive further instructions by email.

• The final decision on admission is made by the receiving university.

• Some selected students (including the first ones on the waiting list) may be invited for an interview with a coordinator from the International Relations Office of the University's Central Administration. If a student has not received such a notification, it means their application has been successfully confirmed and they should await further instructions.

• Selected students receive all information about the required documents by email.

• It is advisable to find out in advance what documents the foreign university requires, as there will be little time to submit them. A passport is mandatory, so those who do not have one should obtain it promptly.

• Upon receiving the acceptance letter from the host university, and before departure, the student must complete an application for partial studies through the VUSIS system.
