Irish primary schools can register for the free 2026/27 Blue Star Programme, a curriculum-friendly programme that helps pupils learn about Europe, European cultures and EU institutions through classroom projects and activities.
Complete training program details
The 2026/27 registration form is currently open. Participating schools complete four core elements covering European history, geography, culture and creativity, and EU institutions, and normally mark Europe Day with a school or community activity. The programme provides digital and physical learning resources. Schools that complete the programme receive a certificate of achievement signed by the Minister for European Affairs and Defence; first-time completing schools receive an EU flag, and fifth-time completing schools receive a plaque.
Eligibility requirements
Open to primary schools across Ireland. The programme is suitable for pupils from junior infants through sixth class and for different school settings including Gaelscoileanna, DEIS schools and island schools. Each school submits one registration form with a coordinating teacher.
