The scheme covers full tuition and non-refundable institutional charges, with tuition support capped at INR 200,000 per year for private-sector institutions. It also provides an academic allowance of INR 86,000 in the first year and INR 41,000 in each subsequent year for eligible study and living costs. NSP lists the current student application deadline as 31 October 2026.
Eligibility requirements
Applicants must belong to the Scheduled Caste category, have annual family income not exceeding INR 800,000, and be pursuing an eligible full-time course in a notified institution. Fresh scholarships are normally available from the first year of study and are subject to the scheme's institution/slot rules and other current conditions.
