About the team Our Operations, Process, and Technology Improvement (OPTI) group supports the Operations division to deliver the solutions needed to manage the real-time power system and prepare for an increasingly electrified future. https://www.transpower.co.nz/system-operator/our-system-operator-role The group proactively identifies the capabilities, skills, resources, and support needed to meet current and future operational needs. It also optimises planning and investment decisions across key tools and processes, including SCADA applications, market systems, real-time systems, and real-time asset management technologies used by our control rooms and other areas of Transpower. The Investment Delivery team within OPTI manages the formal joint programme relationship with the Electricity Authority and works collaboratively with our Information Services Technology (IST) division to deliver the Operations work programme. Investment Delivery provides governance to ensure outcomes are delivered, resources and funding are used effectively, technology dependencies are understood, and change impacts are minimised. Check out projects here https://www.transpower.co.nz/system-operator/planning-future/system-operator-projects The Opportunity – in Wellington As one of two permanent OPTI Change Managers, and part of our broader Change Community of Practice, you’ll play a key role in developing change strategies and plans that assess readiness, identify impacts, integrate change activities into project plans, and support effective stakeholder communication. Working alongside project managers and sponsors, you’ll lead change for projects and initiatives to support successful implementation and adoption. You’ll build relationships with people passionate about keeping the energy flowing for Aotearoa, while developing practical mitigation strategies for business impacts. With nationally significant programmes of work to deliver, this is an ideal opportunity for a qualified and experienced change professional seeking intellectually stimulating, varied project work and the opportunity to contribute to a unique organisation for the long term. What will you bring? You’ll bring proven experience as a business change manager or practitioner in a complex, large-scale organisation. You’ll be known for clear, concise communication, strong stakeholder engagement, and keeping change activity focused on business outcomes. To be considered, your CV and cover letter will demonstrate: Relevant tertiary and change management qualifications. Demonstrated ability to deliver and embed business change across process, people, and technology. Previous experience applying change principles, methodologies, and tools to assess readiness, manage risks, and support successful adoption in varied contexts. Proven ability to influence, constructively challenge and move people and projects at pace toward a common vision or goal. Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
