Full job description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) based in the United States. This is a high-impact CFO opportunity within a private equity-backed healthcare software business. You will take ownership of finance across planning, reporting, accounting oversight, cash management, and strategic finance. The role offers meaningful influence over pricing, margins, growth priorities, customer economics, and overall financial performance. You will work closely with executive leadership, the board, investors, and lenders to turn financial insights into operating decisions. An established finance foundation is already in place, including controller support, bookkeeping, AP/AR resources, completed audits, and prior transaction experience. The position combines hands-on financial leadership with the opportunity to strengthen systems, processes, reporting, and finance capabilities as the business scales. It is well suited to an experienced finance leader stepping into a first CFO role or an existing CFO seeking substantial operating and strategic influence.
As Chief Financial Officer, you will lead the finance function and serve as a key strategic partner to leadership and stakeholders across the business. Own the three-statement financial model, annual budget, rolling forecasts, and variance analysis. Translate recurring revenue, retention, margins, unit economics, and customer/product profitability into actionable business decisions. Partner with leadership on pricing, renewals, commercial agreements, vendor negotiations, and initiatives designed to improve P&L performance. Deliver monthly and quarterly reporting for management, the board, investors, and lenders, supported by meaningful KPI dashboards and clear financial narratives. Partner with the controller on financial close, GAAP reporting, internal controls, audits, tax, and compliance relationships. Improve financial visibility and systems as the organization grows, including accurate treatment of cash collections, deferred revenue, and recognized revenue. Lead liquidity planning, banking relationships, debt facilities, and covenant reporting with support from the existing finance team. Advise leadership on strategic priorities, growth opportunities, and resource allocation. Maintain transaction readiness and support financial diligence, valuation, deal structuring, and other strategic transactions. Expand finance resources and capabilities as business requirements evolve. Requirements The role requires strong finance leadership experience in an investor-backed software environment, combined with hands-on expertise across FP&A, reporting, cash planning, and accounting oversight. Hands-on finance experience within a private equity-backed or venture-backed software business. Demonstrated ownership of significant finance workstreams and the ability to operate across FP&A, reporting, liquidity planning, and accounting oversight. At least 2 years of experience in management consulting, investment banking, or Big 4 audit/assurance. At least 2 years of experience in private equity, venture capital, or senior finance leadership within software/SaaS. Strong understanding of software finance metrics and GAAP reporting, including recurring revenue, retention, unit economics, deferred revenue, and cash versus recognized revenue. Ability to communicate financial results, insights, and recommendations clearly to executives, investors, lenders, and board stakeholders. Bachelor's degree required. Healthcare technology, payer/provider software, claims pricing, contract management, or revenue cycle experience is preferred. Experience with pricing, renewals, customer economics, margin improvement, debt facilities, lender reporting, or covenant management is advantageous. Exposure to M&A, financial diligence, valuation, or transaction readiness is a plus. MBA, CPA, or CFA is preferred. Prior CFO experience is not required; substantial ownership within a division, business unit, or finance number-two role can provide relevant preparation for the position. Benefits Total annual cash compensation of $200,000–$250,000 . 0.25%–0.60% equity grant , providing participation in the value created. 80%+ remote flexibility within the United States. Candidates in the Greater Philadelphia or Delaware area are preferred, with occasional office access helpful. Opportunity to work directly with executive leadership, the board, investors, and an experienced private equity sponsor. Existing accounting and finance support provides a foundation while allowing the CFO to focus on strategic and operational improvements. Meaningful influence over pricing, growth strategy, financial performance, and resource allocation. Opportunity to build and develop the finance organization as the business scales.
