At Foth, internships are more than just summer jobs—they’re launchpads for your career. As a Civil Engineering Intern on our Transportation Design team, you’ll take on meaningful work that directly impacts the communities we serve. Based out of our newly relocated Des Moines, IA office in the heart of downtown, this Summer 2027 opportunity offers hands-on experience with real transportation infrastructure projects, one-on-one mentorship from seasoned professionals, and the chance to contribute to innovative design solutions that make a difference.
Primary Responsibilities:

Assist in the preparation of roadway and transportation design plans using OpenRoads Designer and other design software

Support the development of construction documents, cost estimates, and technical reports

Perform basic engineering calculations and data analysis

Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other interns on multidisciplinary projects

Participate in team meetings, site visits, and client presentations as appropriate
Required Qualifications:
- Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
Preferred Qualifications:

Previous Civil Engineering experience through an internship or co-op

MicroStation Open Roads Designer (ORD) or AutoCAD Civil3D experience
