Brazil's 2026 Atlânticas call funds doctoral-sandwich and postdoctoral research abroad for eligible Black, Quilombola, Indigenous and Roma women.

The second Atlânticas – Beatriz Nascimento call supports research periods abroad through CNPq DEJ, DES and PDE fellowships. DEJ supports doctoral students enrolled in Brazil for 1–12 months abroad; DES supports doctorate holders with normally at least five years of research, development or innovation experience for 1–12 months; PDE supports postdoctoral research abroad for 6–12 months. The call has a total budget of R$4.925 million. Fellowship benefits follow CNPq overseas tables and include monthly payments, travel allowance, installation allowance, health insurance and a high-cost-location supplement where applicable. Applications opened 30 June 2026 and close 30 September 2026 at 23:59 Brasília time. Fellowships are planned for implementation from March 2027 through December 2028.
Eligibility requirements
For Black (preta or parda), Quilombola, Indigenous or Roma women applying under the call. Applicants must satisfy the requirements of the selected CNPq fellowship route, maintain an updated Lattes CV, provide the required ethnic/racial self-declaration and supporting documents, and obtain an official acceptance letter from the overseas host. DEJ applicants must be formally enrolled in a doctorate in Brazil; DES requires a doctorate and normally at least five years of relevant research/R&D/innovation experience; PDE requires a doctorate and the CNPq postdoctoral-abroad conditions. Brazilian nationals and eligible foreign nationals with regular/permanent status in Brazil may qualify as specified by the route.
