CNPq and the European Research Council are funding Brazilian doctoral-level researchers to collaborate with ERC-funded research teams in Europe through Call 21/2026.

CNPq/ERC Call 21/2026 will support up to 10 research projects involving Brazilian researchers in collaborations with ERC-funded projects. CNPq states a limit of R$200,000 per project, using Senior Technological Development and Innovation Abroad (DES) fellowships valued at EUR 2,100. Projects may last up to 24 months, while overseas fellowships are to be implemented between January and December 2027 for 1 to 12 months. An Expression of Interest is a mandatory preliminary step used to receive the list of eligible ERC-funded projects before the full proposal is submitted.
Eligibility requirements
Brazilian proposers must hold a doctoral degree. Applicants must complete the mandatory Expression of Interest, establish collaboration with an eligible ERC-funded principal investigator and follow the conditions in the official call. The full proposal is submitted through CNPq's Plataforma Integrada Carlos Chagas.
