ABOUT THE ROLE This is a co-founder-level opportunity to own the full technical vision of an AI-powered smart home intelligence platform in the IoT and PropTech space. You will shape the architecture, build the engineering team, and drive product development from the ground up as the company scales from pre-seed through Series A and beyond. Your technical decisions will directly influence how connected properties detect anomalies, optimize energy, and manage smart systems. WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Own and evolve the end-to-end technical architecture across IoT, cloud, and AI/ML layers.
- Hire, lead, and grow the engineering team from its current early-stage foundation.
- Drive the product roadmap from a technical perspective, balancing innovation with practical execution.
- Write production code and solve critical technical problems alongside your team.
- Represent the technical vision to investors, partners, and external stakeholders. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- 10+ years of software engineering or technical leadership experience, including 3+ years in senior technical leadership roles.
- Proven 0 to 1 startup experience as a co-founder or early-stage CTO, not a big-company-only background.
- Strong IoT and embedded systems background with hands-on experience shipping real products.
- Cloud architecture expertise, ideally with AWS, and a track record of designing and deploying scalable systems.
- AI/ML product experience applied to real-world, production environments.
- Experience building an engineering team from scratch, including hiring and mentoring.
- Hands-on coding ability, actively writing production code rather than purely managing.
- Hardware and software crossover experience, with fluency across embedded and software systems integration.
- Familiarity with the tech stack: React, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, Raspberry Pi, ThingsBoard.
- Domain knowledge in smart home, building tech, or energy management is a strong plus.
- German or Spanish language proficiency is a plus.
- Based in or willing to relocate to Mallorca, Spain for this on-site role. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
- Salary range: 60,000 to 100,000 EUR per year, discussed case by case.
- Co-founding equity up to 5% via an earn-in structure.
- Visa sponsorship is not available. LOCATION This is a primarily on-site role based in Mallorca (Balearic Islands), Spain, with strong ties to Munich, Germany.
