College Sports Systems Technician - UTK

As a College Sports Systems Technician with Hawk-Eye, you'll be instrumental in ensuring seamless technology operations during live games across various sports (Women’s Soccer, Volleyball, Men’s and Women’s Basketball, Baseball and Softball). KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• System Quality Control: Ensure the quality of replay systems for all contracted sports, including Women’s Soccer, Volleyball, Basketball, Baseball & Softball.
• Pre-Match Readiness: Conduct pre-match checks of systems to ensure smooth operation prior to the start of every game.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Effectively collaborate with system operators, officials, Birmingham Staff, school production staff, and broadcasters both on-site and remotely.
• Live Game Monitoring: Monitor and maintain technology during games to ensure optimal performance when it matters most.
• Equipment Maintenance: Maintain hardware and equipment throughout the season, with possible off-season work for ongoing maintenance.
• Installation & Deployment: Assist with the installation and testing of new products and services on-site. WHAT DOES A TYPICAL WEEK LOOK LIKE?
• During season (August- May)
• Arriving on-site at least 2 hours prior to game time.
• Following pre-game checklist items ensure full system functionality before replay operator arrives
• Flagging and troubleshooting any issues seen in pre-game checks.
• Communicating with Birmingham supervisor on pre-game check progress
• Coordinating broadcast camera plans with appropriate broadcast personnel to ensure we are ingesting all available angles.
• Ensuring officials, event managers, replay operators and Birmingham staff are kept up-to-date operational readiness.
• Being available and prepared during the game for anything operational assistance may require.
• Following post-game checklist and ensuring all equipment is properly secured and ready for the next event,
• Off-Season (May-Aug)
• Recertification of systems may be required for preseason checks.
• Communicating with Birmingham staff any issues that may need to be addressed or resolved prior to the next season. ESSENTIAL SKILLS, ATTRIBUTES, AND REQUIREMENTS Essentials

• Broadcast/Engineering Background: Prior background in broadcast or engineering fields, with a solid understanding of signal flow preferred. WHAT DIFFICULTIES MIGHT I FACE? Up to this point, while there may be many things that you find intriguing about this role, the difficulties you may face should not be ignored.
• Working Hours: Due to the nature of the sports industry, there is often work on weekends and midweek evenings, and we are expected to fulfil our roles until the final whistle and takedown is complete.
• Technical troubleshooting: In this role, you will be the primary on-site contact for Hawk-Eye, which means you will be responsible for ensuring the functionality of the hardware on-site. While you will have the help from Birmingham staff remotely as well as school contacts to assist, you will be relied on to ensure any hardware issues are resolved in a timely manner that although rare, may require high pressure moments.
