The British High Commission in Mauritius hosted a Commonwealth Alumni Engagement Evening on 30 July 2026, bringing together Commonwealth Alumni and current Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholars for an evening dedicated to connection, reflection, and future collaboration.
Hosted by the British High Commissioner, Paul Brummell CMG, the event provided an opportunity for alumni from different scholarship cohorts and professional backgrounds to connect with each other and with the British High Commission. It also offered current scholars the opportunity to meet members of the wider Commonwealth Scholarships and Fellowships community in Mauritius and learn how alumni have used their scholarship experiences to support their professional journeys and contribute to their communities.
Celebrating a shared Commonwealth journey
The evening highlighted the lasting value of Commonwealth Scholarships and Fellowships, not only as opportunities for study, but as the foundation for long-term relationships, knowledge exchange, and shared impact. Attendees included recent and senior alumni, current Distance Learning Scholars, and representatives of the local alumni association, reflecting the breadth and diversity of the Commonwealth Scholarships and Fellowships community in Mauritius.
In his remarks, the British High Commissioner recognised the contribution of Commonwealth Alumni to Mauritius and the wider Commonwealth, and underlined the importance of continued alumni engagement. The event also provided an opportunity to celebrate the expertise, leadership, and commitment of alumni working across a range of sectors relevant to Mauritius’ development priorities.
