Applications open 8 September 2026 and close 20 October 2026 at 16:00 BST. Awards support up to 36 months of full-time doctoral study and include approved return airfare, full approved tuition, a monthly stipend of £1,712 or £2,000 in the London metropolitan area, study travel and approved overseas fieldwork travel under current terms. Applicants must use CSC Central and also apply through an eligible nominating agency or organisation; direct un-nominated applications are not accepted.
Eligibility requirements
Applicants must meet the CSC’s current eligible-country citizenship/refugee/British Protected Person and permanent-residence rules, be available to begin study in September 2027, normally hold at least an upper-second-class degree or a lower-second-class degree plus a relevant postgraduate qualification, not already be registered for a PhD or MPhil-leading-to-PhD before the specified 2026 cut-off, be unable to afford UK study without the scholarship, and provide all required documents.
