Job Summary

Artemis is seeking a full-time Communications Specialist with demonstrated experience developing and editing documentation, reports, and communications for federal clients. Working with the Department of Veterans Affairs’ (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Digital Health Office’s Strategic Initiatives Lab, this role produces clear, accurate, and audience-appropriate user manuals, technical documentation, briefing materials, and evaluation reports, and edits deliverables for quality, consistency, and compliance.

The Communications Specialist role requires a self-starter, proactive problem solver and action-oriented team player with exceptional writing, editing, and attention to detail. This position requires an individual who is committed to providing superior service, poised under pressure and has a positive and flexible attitude.

This is a contingent hire position. Offers will be contingent upon client approval, ability to meet security requirements, and the ability to adhere to any on-site requirements (which may change at contract award).

Remote work is anticipated. However, occasional travel for client engagements may be required.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain detailed user manuals, technical documentation, and FAQs for digital health products.

  • Draft, format, and edit monthly reports, briefing decks, and informational materials for program and executive audiences.

  • Edit and quality-check deliverables in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for clarity, accuracy, consistency, and adherence to style standards.

  • Develop and refine strategic communication artifacts such as brochures, toolkits, flyers, and manuals.

  • Support the drafting of evaluation reports, project completion reports, and research summaries, incorporating graphics and data as needed.

  • Assist with drafting and formatting language for use in applicable VA and Veterans Health Administration policies, directives, and guidance documents.

  • Translate complex technical and clinical concepts into clear, accessible content for diverse stakeholders, including Veterans, clinicians, and VA leadership.

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to gather source material and ensure documentation remains current and accurate.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3 years of experience in technical writing, editing, or communications.

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, journalism, technical writing, or a related field.

  • Demonstrated experience producing user manuals, technical documentation, reports, and briefing materials.

  • Strong editing and proofreading skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Ability to translate complex or technical information into clear, audience-appropriate content.

  • Experience supporting complex projects and transformation efforts within the federal government.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
