As a Community Outreach Officer, you will build meaningful relationships within local communities and help increase awareness of humanitarian initiatives and fundraising campaigns. You will connect with community organizations, stakeholders, volunteers, and local networks to create opportunities for engagement and support. The role combines relationship building, grassroots outreach, volunteer coordination, fundraising support, social media engagement, and event execution. You will also develop and maintain partnerships, recruit and coordinate volunteers, and support fundraising initiatives across the region. This is a people-focused opportunity for someone who enjoys bringing communities together and creating practical opportunities for individuals to contribute to meaningful causes.

Develop new relationships and partnerships with community organizations, individuals, networks, and potential donors to expand regional outreach and engagement. Manage stakeholder relationships through regular communication and meetings, gathering feedback and identifying opportunities for collaboration and support. Promote campaigns, activities, appeals, and community initiatives through regional and personal social media channels. Distribute campaign materials at mosques, community gatherings, and other relevant events. Organize local fundraisers and community activities designed to increase both awareness and financial support. Support fundraising targets while monitoring engagement and return on investment across individual and community networks. Formalize partnerships with individuals and organizations through appropriate agreements, memoranda of understanding, or contracts. Provide fundraising and campaign support to community stakeholders and respond to inquiries related to regional activities. Recruit, train, coordinate, and manage a regional volunteer team. Lead volunteers in planning and delivering grassroots community events, fundraising initiatives, challenges, and larger organizational activities. Encourage volunteer participation and attendance at fundraising events and community initiatives. Attend local and organizational events to network, develop relationships, and identify potential volunteers and community partners. Represent the organization professionally at both internal and external community events. Coordinate event logistics, including preparing, transporting, setting up, and returning promotional materials and equipment. Maintain adequate supplies of fundraising and promotional materials for community activities. Provide regular performance updates and communicate progress, opportunities, and challenges to the relevant manager. Requirements Post-secondary education, preferably a diploma or degree in event planning, fundraising, project management, community development, or a related field. Previous experience in community outreach, fundraising, event planning, volunteer coordination, or a related role, ideally within a nonprofit or community-focused organization. Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to connect comfortably with people from diverse social and cultural backgrounds. Strong customer-service orientation and a friendly, approachable, and professional communication style. Excellent organization, prioritization, and time-management skills. Ability to manage multiple activities and deadlines while maintaining attention to detail. Strong teamwork skills combined with the ability to work independently and take initiative with limited supervision. Strong written and verbal English communication skills. Fluency in an additional language commonly spoken within local communities is an asset. Comfortable using social media platforms to promote campaigns, activities, events, and community initiatives. Ability to recruit, motivate, and coordinate volunteers effectively. Strong networking and community engagement abilities. Willingness to represent the organization at community events and build relationships with local stakeholders. Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends and undertake some local travel as required. Alignment with the values and humanitarian mission of the organization. Benefits CAD 23–25 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. Permanent part-time employment, approximately 15–20 hours per week. Potential annual incentives. Medical and wellness benefits. Contributions toward a Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP). Paid sick days, vacation days, and family days. Access to professional training and development opportunities. Leadership development and career growth opportunities. Opportunity to build strong relationships across local communities and nonprofit networks. Meaningful work supporting humanitarian initiatives and community fundraising. Flexible part-time structure with a primarily remote working arrangement in the Edmonton area. Opportunities to lead volunteers, coordinate grassroots initiatives, and develop community partnerships.
