This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Construction Safety Officer based in Canada. As a Construction Safety Officer, you will provide hands-on field leadership to promote safe, compliant, and efficient construction operations. You will work closely with project teams, supervisors, subcontractors, and site personnel to implement Health, Safety, and Environmental programs. The role focuses on preventing incidents through inspections, hazard assessments, education, corrective actions, and proactive safety planning. You will contribute to commercial, high-rise, and institutional construction projects where strong safety practices are essential to successful delivery. You will also support incident investigations, monitor safety trends, and ensure required documentation is accurate, complete, and accessible. Your expertise will help project teams interpret applicable regulations and translate safety requirements into practical site procedures. This is a field-oriented role for an experienced safety professional who enjoys building relationships, influencing teams, and fostering a strong safety culture.

Work under the direction of the project superintendent to verify effective implementation of Health, Safety, and Environmental standards across construction sites. Conduct and document regular site inspections to identify hazards and verify compliance with company policies and applicable health and safety regulations. Identify corrective actions for non-compliance issues and support project teams in resolving them effectively. Provide safety education, guidance, and coaching to supervisors, subcontractors, and project personnel. Participate in and support effective incident investigations with project teams and contractors. Ensure Health, Safety, and Environmental documentation is properly organized and distributed, including subcontractor documentation, inspections, audits, daily hazard assessments, toolbox talks, safe work procedures, and meeting minutes. Review incident reports, inspection findings, and monthly safety statistics to identify emerging trends and recommend appropriate preventive measures. Collaborate with project teams to develop and implement project-specific safety plans, job hazard assessments, and safe work procedures. Provide practical advice on the interpretation and application of local and provincial health, safety, and public-safety regulations. Support operational teams and project safety coordinators in establishing, communicating, and achieving challenging safety objectives. Promote a proactive safety culture through consistent field presence, communication, education, and relationship building. Requirements Minimum 3 years of relevant Health, Safety, and Environmental experience , preferably within commercial construction. Experience with commercial construction environments, particularly high-rise towers and institutional projects. BC Construction Safety Officer (CSO) or National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) designation. OFA Level 3 certification is required. Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation or another professional Health, Safety, and Environmental credential is an asset. Thorough knowledge of applicable local and provincial occupational health and safety legislation, policies, regulations, codes, and practices. Working knowledge of key Health, Safety, and Environmental disciplines, including occupational hygiene, ergonomics, confined spaces, and incident investigation. Strong understanding of commercial construction practices, equipment, techniques, and site operations. Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Proven leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence operational teams and promote strong safety practices. Ability to establish productive relationships with supervisors, subcontractors, project teams, and safety professionals. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly when managing safety documentation, inspections, investigations, and corrective actions. Ability to work proactively, identify risks, and provide practical solutions in a dynamic construction environment. Ability to work on uneven terrain and at heights, climb ladders and stairs, and remain standing for extended periods. Benefits Compensation of $36.05–$41.51 per hour , with individual placement within the range based on trade certification and/or apprenticeship level, industry experience, and work location.
