We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Consultant in Adult Psychiatry to join our NHS client in London, Greater London. This is a full-time position offering a dynamic opportunity to lead inpatient psychiatric services and contribute to high-quality mental health care in a vibrant urban setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical leadership and psychiatric care for adult patients in an inpatient setting.

  • Act as an Approved Clinician under the Mental Health Act, with responsibilities including detention, treatment, and discharge planning.

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments, formulate diagnoses, and develop evidence-based treatment plans.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated, person-centred care.

  • Supervise and support junior medical staff and contribute to their training and development.

  • Participate in clinical governance, quality improvement, and service development initiatives.

  • Engage with families, carers, and external agencies to support holistic care and recovery.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Full GMC registration with a licence to practise

  • Inclusion on the Specialist Register for General Adult Psychiatry (or within 6 months of CCT)

  • MRCPsych or equivalent qualification

  • Approved Clinician status under the Mental Health Act (or eligibility to obtain)

  • Significant experience in inpatient adult psychiatry

  • Strong leadership, communication, and clinical decision-making skills
