Requirements

Full registration and licence to practise with the General Medical Council (GMC)

Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Haematology (or within 6 months of interview)

Relevant postgraduate qualifications and Fellowship of a Royal College (e.g., FRCPath)

Experience in managing both malignant and non-malignant haematological conditions

Commitment to teamwork, clinical excellence, and continuous improvement
Typical Job Plan and Duties A standard job plan includes:

Direct clinical care including outpatient clinics, inpatient ward rounds, and multidisciplinary team meetings

Development of a subspecialty interest in areas such as acute leukaemia, myeloid malignancies, or stem cell transplantation

Participation in the on-call rota for haematology emergencies

Contribution to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching

Involvement in clinical governance, audit, and service development

Opportunities to engage in research and clinical trials
About the Department

A team of 11 consultant haematologists, supported by 5 specialty registrars, 1 academic clinical fellow, and junior doctors

Provides Level 3 Haematology care and autologous stem cell transplantation through a JACIE-accredited service

Outpatient services are delivered in a dedicated unit

Inpatients are managed on a joint Oncology & Haematology ward

Children with blood disorders are cared for at the nearby children’s hospital

The department is active in clinical trials, basic science research, and undergraduate teaching at the local Medical School
