Job Title: Credit Risk Analyst Department: Risk Management Credit Risk Location: Dubai, UAE Reports To: Head of Credit Risk / Risk Manager
Job Purpose: To support the Credit Risk function by analyzing credit proposals, assessing borrower risk profiles, monitoring portfolio performance, and ensuring compliance with internal credit policies and UAE Central Bank regulations. The role ensures sound credit decisions and effective risk mitigation across the banks lending portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Credit Assessment & Analysis
- Review and analyze credit proposals submitted by business units.
- Evaluate financial statements, cash flows, repayment capacity, industry risk, and collateral adequacy.
- Conduct due diligence and assess creditworthiness of individuals and corporate clients.
- Prepare detailed credit assessment reports with recommendations.
2. Risk Rating & Approval Process
- Assign preliminary risk ratings using internal credit scoring models.
- Ensure all proposals comply with the banks credit policies, underwriting standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Support senior risk officers in preparing cases for Credit Committees.
3. Portfolio Monitoring & Reporting
- Monitor portfolio performance, including asset quality, delinquencies, and concentration risks.
- Identify early warning signs and recommend appropriate risk mitigation actions.
- Prepare monthly/quarterly credit risk reports, dashboards, and Key Risk Indicators (KRIs).
4. Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure adherence to UAE Central Bank credit risk regulations and reporting standards.
- Support data collection for ICAAP, IFRS9, ECL calculations, and stress testing exercises.
- Stay updated with regulatory changes impacting credit risk.
5. Credit Policies & Framework Support
- Assist in reviewing and updating credit policies, procedures, and credit risk frameworks.
- Participate in the development and refinement of credit risk models and rating tools.
6. Coordination & Stakeholder Support
- Work closely with Relationship Managers, business units, and risk teams to ensure high-quality credit applications.
- Provide guidance to business teams regarding credit requirements and documentation.
Qualifications & Skills:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or related field.
- 15 years of experience in Credit Risk or Corporate Credit Analysis (banking experience preferred).
- Fresh graduates with strong academic background may also be considered.
Technical Skills:
- Strong financial analysis and credit assessment skills.
- Solid understanding of financial statements, ratios, and cash flow analysis.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint; experience with risk systems is an advantage.
- Knowledge of IFRS9, risk rating models, and credit regulatory requirements is preferred.
