CWAJ is accepting applications for its 2027 merit scholarship for non-Japanese women enrolled in doctoral degree programs at Japanese universities.

The 2027 award is JPY 2,000,000. Applications are due by 22:00 Japan Standard Time on 5 October 2026. Applicants first register for an Application ID and then use the links sent by CWAJ to submit the full application and references.
Eligibility requirements
Applicants must be non-Japanese women without Japanese special permanent residence, be enrolled in a PhD program at a Japanese university, and reside in Japan at the time of application. Current rules also exclude applicants completing the PhD before March 2028 and include additional education-history and prior-award conditions in the official requirements.
