About the Role We’re seeking a Data Collection Supervisor to support a variety of video-based data collection projects that help train the next generation of AI models. This individual contributor role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, has a knack for technology, and wants a flexible part-time opportunity close to the city. As a Data Collection Supervisor, you’ll guide participants through video recording tasks, troubleshoot equipment and software, and make sure everything runs smoothly from start to finish. Some sessions will take place in specific lighting conditions (such as after dark or late afternoon), so flexibility is important. Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and instruct participants during recording sessions
  • Use Appen’s tools and equipment to run data collection projects
  • Monitor project trackers and report progress to the Data Collection Lead
  • Communicate with participants (in-person, via email, or phone)
  • Provide light troubleshooting support with software and equipment
  • Set up participant payments and maintain accurate records
  • Handle all participant and project information with confidentiality Hours of Work This is a casual hourly role and will be based on project requirements. Most weeks will involve a minimum of two to three days of work (15-21 hours of work per week) but there may be quiet periods. About you We are looking for
  • Previous experience in a customer facing role from retail, hospitality or corporate environment
  • A full driver's licence held for at least three years A confident communicator, able to engage with diverse audiences.
  • Tech-savvy, with basic troubleshooting skills
  • Proficient using Excel
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with strong time management skills
  • Able to quickly learn new systems and processes
  • Proactive, adaptable, and collaborative in a small team environment Nice to have
  • Experience with video recording equipment/software
