SMX is looking for a Data Manager to support a Missile Defense Agency program based at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL. The Data Manager will execute and oversee the full lifecycle of test and mission data across MDA systems – including ingestion, parsing, cataloging, distribution, and archival. The Data Manager ensures data products are delivered accurately, securely, and on time to support analysis and decision-making, serving as a bridge between test event operations and data consumers. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Ensure timely, standardized delivery of data products Execute parsing, cataloging, ingestion, and archival processes in line with relevant procedures and timelines Track, validate, and report data delivery status from receipt through dissemination and archival, ensuring metadata completeness and policy compliance Verify data format and metadata compliance from providers and address any non-standard inputs with Data Owners as necessary Coordinate archival and destruction activities in compliance with retention schedules while maintaining proper documentation and traceability Conduct QA checks to validate data integrity, reconcile orphan files, and verify cataloging accuracy. Maintain accountability of physical and digital media, ensuring check-in/out procedures are followed and inventory status is accurate. Generate and maintain trackers, reports, and dashboards on data readiness, ingestion metrics, and distribution milestones Provide surge and after-hours support for critical test events as required. Perform other data management tasks as assigned. Required Skills & Experience Clearance Required: Secret US citizenship is required for work on DoW contract A Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years, OR a high school diploma and 6+ years of experience in data management or test data operations is required. Must reside within 70 miles of Redstone Arsenal or be willing to relocate Familiarity with mission test environments, metadata standards, and secure data handling Strong understanding of end-to-end data lifecycle management (collection, validation, ingestion, dissemination, archival). Familiarity with data governance principles, metadata standards, and retention policy enforcement Experience with data transfer protocols and classified data workflows Excellent communication and coordination skills Detail-oriented with strong organizational, documentation, and communication skills Ability to operate in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment and meet tight deadlines Desired Skills & Experience A bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Engineering, Data Management, or a related field is desired. Experience with data visualization utilizing dashboards and PowerBI is desired Experience with MDA or DoD programs strongly preferred Working knowledge of SQL or similar query/reporting tools preferred #cjpost The SMX salary determination process takes into account a number of factors, including but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories, relevant prior work experience, specific skills, education and certifications.
