About Phonic Phonic is a product and research lab focused on powering the most realistic, human-like voice AI conversations. We’ve re-thought the entire stack in pursuit of this goal, from models to product, to create voice agents that feel like they truly understand you, respond emotionally and perform agentic tasks with frontier intelligence. Our team includes top-tier AI researchers, international olympiad medalists, and former founders. Our customers include companies that are building voice-native AI products in industries such as customer support, healthcare, logistics, and recruiting. We have raised over $30M from tier 1 VCs. About the Team Phonic has a very talent-dense and close-knit team. We collaborate with high trust and are constantly trying to improve how we work to deliver world-class research and product. Everyone takes ownership in what they do and they aren’t afraid to dive in headfirst into new problems. We’re fully in-person in our SF office. About the Role As a Deployment Strategist at Phonic, you’ll be the primary technical relationship for our customers once a deal is kicked off. You’ll own the pre-sale journey end-to-end, from kickoff through production go-live and beyond, making sure the companies building on Phonic integrate, launch, and scale their voice AI workloads successfully. You’ll sit between customer teams and Phonic’s engineering and research teams, working closely with the people building our real-time infrastructure, platform, and voice AI models. You won’t be writing production backend code day-to-day, but you will guide technical deployments, debug integration issues alongside customer developers, and advise customers on how to build production-grade voice products. This is a role for someone who moves with urgency, is comfortable with ambiguity, and takes full ownership of customer outcomes. What You’ll Do
- Own customer engagements end-to-end, from pre-sale kickoff through pilot, production go-live, and long-term expansion
- Embed with customer teams to advise on how they design, configure, and scale voice AI agents within their products and workflows
- Act as the primary technical escalation point during onboarding: debug API payloads, diagnose latency issues, and unblock integrations alongside customer developers
- Design and run migration plans for customers moving voice workloads onto Phonic from other voice providers
- Monitor deployment health, lead business and technical reviews, and help accounts expand their voice AI footprint as their usage scales
- Partner with Engineering, Sales, and Marketing to turn field learnings into product feedback, repeatable playbooks, and a sharper go-to-market strategy What You’ll Bring
- A degree in Computer Science or a related technical field from a top university, or equivalent hands-on experience
- 3+ years in product, engineering, consulting, or as a founder
- Strong customer-facing experience and a consultative mindset: you’re comfortable in a room with a customer’s engineers and executives at the same time
- Technical fluency: you can read API docs, reason through modern web and cloud architectures, and hold your own in conversations with developers
- Clear, precise written and verbal communication and strong stakeholder management
- High velocity and high ownership: you thrive in early-stage environments where the playbook is still being written Nice to Have
- Prior experience at a top-tier consulting firm or early-stage startup
- Experience working with enterprise customers or complex, multi-stakeholder deployments
- Familiarity with real-time streaming, telephony, or conversational AI platforms
- Understanding of LLMs, prompt design, or AI agent workflows
- You are a former founder or consultant Benefits
- 💸 Top-tier compensation: in order to get the best talent, we provide salary and equity that recognize your skillset
- 🥗 Meals: free breakfast, lunch, and dinner provided in the office
- 🩺 Healthcare: Comprehensive health, dental, and vision
