This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Backend Developer based in Canada. We are looking for a Senior Backend Developer to help build and evolve a modern, cloud-native mortgage technology platform. You will play a key role in designing scalable backend systems that support seamless digital lending experiences. The role combines hands-on software development with architecture, testing, debugging, and continuous improvement. You’ll collaborate closely with Frontend and Data teams to deliver robust, reliable services and data integrations. You’ll join a diverse, collaborative environment where knowledge sharing and technical excellence are highly valued. This is an opportunity to work with modern technologies while contributing to the transformation of Canada’s mortgage lending industry. The position can be performed fully remotely from anywhere in Canada or from one of the company’s offices.

Design, develop, and continuously evolve backend services and the broader cloud-native technology platform to support business growth. Collaborate with Frontend and Data teams to build, integrate, and maintain robust data-driven services. Write clean, modular, testable, and maintainable code following industry best practices and Clean Code principles. Contribute across the full software development lifecycle, including architecture, implementation, automated testing, debugging, and deployment. Investigate and resolve complex or intermittent technical issues while actively contributing to feature validation and quality assurance. Evaluate emerging technologies and engineering practices and recommend improvements that strengthen the existing architecture. Contribute to a collaborative engineering culture through knowledge sharing, peer support, and continuous improvement. Requirements Bachelor’s degree or university-level education in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or an equivalent technical discipline. At least 5 years of professional software development experience. Strong hands-on experience with at least one of the following programming languages: Go, Python, Node.js, or C#. Strong understanding of backend development, software architecture, automated testing, debugging, and maintainable code practices. A product-oriented mindset and genuine interest in building user-focused products that deliver measurable value. Ability to think strategically about software architecture and long-term technical design, with strong attention to detail and systems-thinking capabilities. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and business stakeholders. Collaborative mindset, with a willingness to learn, exchange knowledge, mentor peers, and contribute to an inclusive team environment. Professional fluency in English is required to collaborate with teams across Canada, including outside Quebec. French/English bilingualism is considered an asset.
