Your role in our mission As the first peer to peer lending marketplace in the United States, Prosper has a history of innovation. As a growing company that generates cash (rare in the valley), Prosper also has a history of generating results. The Director, Credit Risk Analytics is responsible for underwriting and portfolio credit strategies and oversight of credit quality and performance of the Credit Card business. They will review, analyze, and enhance the risk strategies through the use of Machine Learning models and credit data to manage the new accounts growth while managing credit losses in the risk appetite. They will be responsible for the life cycle of credit risk management. Because this touches every part of our business, you must be a strong collaborator who can work seamlessly across Capital Markets, Product, Engineering, Legal, Compliance, Operations, and Marketing. The ideal candidate is expected to bring broad and in-depth credit card expertise to the team, be comfortable to be hands-on to guide the team to develop strategies for automated credit decisions, own the end-to-end process to ensure the credit strategies are performing as expected to support business growth while managing credit losses effectively. Innovate and Optimize: Develop cutting-edge underwriting and portfolio credit, pricing, and line strategies to continually enhance credit performance using data, ML/AI models, and advanced analytics tools. Bring an out-of-the-box mindset to our credit and fraud risk management framework, balancing risk-return trade-offs with creative solutions. Drive Strategy and Action: Translate complex findings into actionable enhancements. Present data-driven recommendations to executive leadership and the Credit Risk Committee, always weighing business impact and resource allocation. Master External Communication: Serve as a trusted voice to our investors, translating complex data into clear, compelling narratives and insights that build confidence and transparency. Champion Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner seamlessly with the Capital Markets, Product, Marketing, Operations, Legal, Compliance, and Engineering teams. Cultivate an open-minded environment where internal and external stakeholders can work together to implement and monitor high-performing strategies. Manage Risk Appetite: Ensure credit losses consistently remain within the company’s defined risk appetite. Discover New Capabilities: Identify, evaluate, and build business cases for new products, vendors, alternative data sources, and emerging technologies. Monitor and React: Analyze credit performance at a granular segment level on an ongoing basis to identify key performance drivers, spot emerging trends, and implement strategy changes as needed.
Master’s degree or higher in Business, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Economics, or a related field. 10+ years of experience managing credit risk within Credit Card businesses, with strong business acumen and deep knowledge of credit management. 5+ years of people leadership experience, with a proven ability to develop and mentor high-performing teams. Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines without compromising quality. A quick, agile thinker who can confidently and constructively address questions on unfamiliar topics with clarity and conviction. Outstanding thought leadership, with the capability to build, refine, and elevate credit strategy frameworks through innovative and structured approaches. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate complex analyses and technical subject matter clearly and succinctly to internal stakeholders, external partners, and Senior Management. A quick thinker who can confidently address questions on unfamiliar topics with clarity and conviction. A strong team player with a collaborative mindset and a business-owner mentality, able to partner effectively across functions.
