Director, Government Affairs

The Role    Following Madison’s groundbreaking Community Infrastructure announcement to develop 1 GW an d mobilize up to $2 billion in capital, we are seeking to make a critical hire to own the company’s strategy and engagement with key industries and government bodies, specifically business leaders, legislators, regulators, agencies, and their staff, driving federal, regional, and local policy.   As part of our Community Infrastructure announcement, we defined a new goal to Build Here. Benefit Here , whereby we partner with local communities, utilities, government agencies, and other stakeholders to listen to their concerns with power/data center development and develop our projects in ways that benefit local communities.   Reporting to the Chief Revenue Officer and working closely with Madison’s Senior Leadership Team, the Senior Director, Government Affairs will oversee the company’s policy and political strategies and execution, lobbying, and partnerships with business and government leaders to deliver on our commitment to strengthen communities and bring distributed energy infrastructure to scale amid surging power demand.   Responsibilities    Build the strategic roadmap and establish relationships with government to execute   Build the company’s policy and political roadmap to advance our mission to modernize energy for industries and communities, where it matters most   Create and enable strategic partnerships with government and government-adjacent leaders and organizations, including legislators, regulators, chambers of commerce, and other business-oriented groups   Cultivate and maintain relationships with legislative and agency staff at the federal, state, and local levels   Track and shape legislative and regulatory developments affecting energy infrastructure and data centers   Represent Madison in industry coalitions, trade associations, and policy working groups   Partner with AI research labs and data center developers    Engage hyperscalers, AI research labs, and data center developers on power procurement, siting, interconnection policy, and other strategic partnerships, in collaboration with our commercial and development teams   Serve as a policy resource to commercial teams pursuing large-load and co-location opportunities   Drive growth and collaboration   Partner with commercial teams to identify and de-risk policy-dependent deal opportunities   Brief the Senior Leadership Team and Board on policy risks, opportunities, and legislative outlook   Manage political giving and PAC strategy in coordination with Legal   Coordinate with Marketing on public narrative and messaging tied to policy positions   Qualifications    Required    Ability to cultivate relationships with key players across business, technology, and government   Proven track record of partnering with government leaders to advance high-impact policy and/or legislation   Experience in government affairs, public policy, or related roles, ideally within energy, infrastructure, or technology   Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate policy complexity for internal and external audiences   Preferred    Experience managing political giving and/or PAC strategies   Experience in commercial and industrial distributed generation, battery storage, or related clean energy sectors   Advanced degree   Existing relationships with policymakers in Washington, D.C. and key state capitals   What We Value    Entrepreneurial mindset with a strong sense of ownership and accountability   Commercial lens on partnership cultivation   Equally comfortable shaping and executing strategy   Intellectual rigor and attention to detail   Benefits PTO and company holidays Medical, dental, vision Employer-paid short-term disability, long-term disability, life insurance 401(k) and company match Professional development stipend Strong culture of collaboration, performance, and personal growth $185,000 - $225,000 a year The actual salary offered may vary depending on job-related factors including, but not limited to knowledge, skills, experience and location.   How We Work At Madison Energy Infrastructure, we believe in the power of clean energy infrastructure to drive real impact—for our customers, our partners, and the communities we serve.
