Full job description

The Director oversees WIPO Japan Office strategy, programme and budget planning, service delivery, stakeholder networks, high-level government engagement, Japan Funds-in-Trust activities, risk and performance management, and representation at meetings across Japan and the Asia-Pacific region. The appointment is limited-term fixed-term for two years, with a maximum cumulative length of five years in the position.

Requirements & qualifications

Essential criteria include an advanced university degree in a relevant field, at least 15 years of intellectual-property experience including at least six years at senior-management level, experience promoting IP services and working with an international IP system, international-setting experience, and excellent English and Japanese. WIPO may accept a first-level degree plus two additional years of relevant experience in lieu of the advanced degree.
