Participants carry out doctoral research in fields such as applied physics, engineering and computing, contribute to CERN projects, and document and present work toward their academic objectives. The initial contract is 12 months and can be renewed up to three years, with flexibility described by CERN for time at the home university.
Eligibility requirements
Applicants must be enrolled in a relevant doctoral programme and have university support confirming that CERN research contributes to the PhD thesis. They must be nationals of a CERN Member or Associate Member State and know English or French. CERN currently says Pakistani, Lithuanian, Latvian, Cypriot and Croatian nationals cannot be considered because applicable Associate Membership ceilings have been reached.
