As an  Electrical Estimator II at Interstates, you’ll help bring complex data center telecom and fiber projects to life. You’ll turn drawings, specifications, and project goals into clear, competitive estimates that help clients make informed decisions and give project teams a strong foundation for successful execution. This role is about more than counting materials. You’ll help shape project strategy, identify risks early, collaborate with partners, and influence how work is planned before it reaches the field. You’ll work alongside clients, vendors, engineers, project managers, estimators, and construction teams from the earliest stages of a bid through project handoff. Why this opportunity stands out Support high-impact data center telecom and fiber projects Build expertise in a growing, specialized area of electrical construction Influence project strategy before construction begins Work with experienced teams across estimating, engineering, project management, and field operations Help improve the tools, processes, and standards used across the business Build relationships with clients, vendors, and project partners Grow your career with a company that invests in its people What you’ll do Develop accurate, competitive estimates using Interstates’ tools and systems Review drawings, specifications, bid documents, and project requirements to define scope and pricing Estimate work related to data center telecom, fiber, structured cabling, pathways, and related infrastructure, as applicable Analyze labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and other project costs Use historical cost data, labor units, and production information to improve estimate accuracy Identify scope gaps, project risks, constructability concerns, and value opportunities Clearly document assumptions, clarifications, exclusions, and decisions throughout the bid process Partner with clients, vendors, engineers, project managers, and field teams to develop practical project solutions Support proposal development, bid strategy, and client presentations Assist with contract reviews, negotiations, and project handoff to execution teams Support change orders and cost-to-complete estimates on active projects Share lessons learned and contribute to more consistent estimating methods and standards What success looks like Your estimates are accurate, complete, competitive, and delivered on schedule Project teams understand the scope, assumptions, and risks before work begins Potential issues are identified early and communicated clearly Your project handoffs help field teams start with confidence Clients and internal partners value your responsiveness, accuracy, and judgment You contribute ideas that improve estimating tools, processes, and consistency You continue building expertise in data center telecom and fiber construction What you bring Approximately 2–3 years of electrical estimating experience or related experience in electrical construction, telecom, fiber, structured cabling, or data center work Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and contract documents Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail Clear written and verbal communication skills A collaborative, team-oriented approach Willingness to learn, ask questions, and take ownership Preferred experience Experience estimating or supporting data center, telecom, fiber, or structured cabling projects Experience with Accubid Anywhere Familiarity with electrical construction methods and project delivery Understanding of electrical fundamentals such as voltage drop, conduit fill, and ampacity Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Acrobat Experience supporting change orders, contract reviews, or project handoffs What it’s like at Interstates We’re serious about delivering excellent work—and equally serious about creating a place where people can do their best work.
