Full job description
Engineering Officers supervise operation, maintenance and repair of propulsion, electrical, auxiliary, deck and hotel systems and support training, emergency drills and machinery records. Senior Engineering Officers additionally plan and direct engineering operations, provide technical support, coordinate watchkeeping and contribute to refit and repair specifications. Salary range stated by the source: CAD 41.01–53.89 per hour depending on level.
Requirements & qualifications
Persons residing in Canada and Canadian citizens or permanent residents abroad may apply. Streams 1–2 require a valid Transport Canada fourth-class marine engineering certificate or higher (with the source allowing candidates expecting to complete it within one year to apply), while the senior stream requires a valid third-class certificate or higher. Relevant Marine Engineering Officer experience is required, with greater depth for higher streams. English is essential; secret clearance, seagoing medical/certificate, travel/deployment and shipboard conditions apply.
