Our partner is looking for a English to French Linguist & Copy Editor for Product, Marketing & UI Content based in Germany. Join a long-term freelance opportunity focused on delivering high-quality English-to-French localization for an international audience. You will work across diverse content, including marketing campaigns, product experiences, user interfaces, support materials, informational content, and legal text. The role combines translation, copy editing, and machine translation post-editing to ensure content is accurate, natural, consistent, and engaging. With an expected volume of 5,000+ words per week, you will contribute to an ongoing localization program with meaningful production scope. You will use a client-specific CAT tool, with training provided during onboarding to help you work effectively within the established workflow. The position offers flexibility, ongoing support and training, and the opportunity to collaborate on high-visibility international projects. It is well suited to experienced linguists who value quality, reliability, responsiveness, and long-term freelance collaboration.
Translate English content into clear, accurate, and natural French across marketing, UI, product, support, informational, and legal materials. Copy-edit and refine French content to ensure linguistic accuracy, consistency, readability, tone, and cultural relevance. Perform machine translation post-editing while maintaining high-quality localization standards. Manage an expected workload of 5,000+ words per week while consistently meeting agreed deadlines. Use CAT tools and client-specific localization workflows to manage translation and editing tasks efficiently. Review content carefully to identify terminology, grammar, style, formatting, and contextual issues. Communicate proactively regarding assignments, questions, deadlines, feedback, and required revisions. Incorporate feedback and revisions effectively to maintain consistency across ongoing projects. Requirements: Native or near-native proficiency in French and excellent command of English. At least 2 years of professional translation experience combined with a degree in Translation, Linguistics, or a related field, or 5+ years of professional translation experience without a formal translation degree. Demonstrated experience translating from English to French across multiple content types, particularly marketing, UI, product, informational, and support content. Professional experience with CAT tools and familiarity with modern localization workflows. Strong copy-editing skills and exceptional attention to linguistic and contextual detail. Ability to produce high-quality work efficiently in a fast-paced localization environment. Strong communication, responsiveness, reliability, and openness to feedback. Ability to work independently as a freelance or independent contractor. Benefits: Fully remote freelance work with an ongoing project. Expected workload of 5,000+ words per week. Opportunity to contribute to high-visibility international localization projects. Ongoing support and training to help you succeed in the workflow. Exposure to diverse content across marketing, product, UI, support, informational, and legal domains. Opportunity to join a global network of linguists and build a long-term professional partnership. Client-specific CAT tool training provided during onboarding. Flexible independent-contractor environment.
